David was referred to Triage in February 2020 with a view to supporting him to move towards employment. He had received support with his mental health before referral and shortly after coming to us he started to struggle to manage this with his medication alone.
There were times when David needed additional support from both his employment adviser Tracey and our safeguarding officer Angela. They both worked together to create a support plan for David which was put in place and monitored closely with him – especially during the lockdown.
Throughout lockdown, David was receiving fit notes from his doctor but continued to keep in touch with his adviser. Around October last year he started to feel in a more positive place and was ready to start looking for work. After a few months of job searching, in January he secured a role working with the NHS at a site specialising in adult mental health services. This was the same site where David had received help for his own mental health issues when he first started with us.
We are extremely proud of what David has achieved; he has had an incredible journey with us and now in the space of 12 months his life has completely changed for the better.
David says: "During a very hard time in my life, I was put on to Triage's Work and Health Programme. I was made to feel at ease as soon as I walked through the door. At this time I was struggling with my psychosis and other mental health issues, and the team went above and beyond to support, help and guide me back to the feeling I could achieve my goals. So now I'm a very proud man to have been able to secure a full-time job working where I've always wanted to be, so thank you so much Triage."
